Hello, my name is Tom. After having a DeviantART account for years and doing essentially nothing with it but the occasional browsing, I am finally getting serious about my photography and look forward to putting this account to good use.
I got into photography about two years ago when I purchased my Canon A640 Point and Shoot, and am still using that as my main camera today. Only in the past couple months have I gotten serious in my photography, in the sense of purposely looking for artistic shots, keeping lighting and shadows in mind, using histograms and zebra overlays, post processing, learning the finer points of photoshop, and all that jazz. And with the added knowledge that I'm acquiring, I've come to quickly realize my camera's limitations. Don't get me wrong, it's a great piece of equipment and I love it, but it's lens and sensor just don't quite cut it sometimes. As soon as I can afford it, I'm planning on getting something from the Canon EOS line, currently I'm loving the Rebel X1i EF-S. Until then though, A640's the way to go!

A little more about myself; I live in Wisconsin USA, beautiful sometimes, cold most of the time.

Currently much of my photography seems to be focused around macro shots, nature, and lights. In art I also like vivid colors, reflections, fractals, vector art, anime, emotional portraits, and other random things. I'm planning to attend Madison Media Institute this fall for their Visual Arts program, with a possible career in Cinematography or as a Visual Effects Artist. So I'm really looking forward to that.
My current equipment set for all my media production awesomeness is a Canon A640 camera, Velbon S-5000 tripod, 8x6" Genius graphic tablet, Photoshop CS4, Illustrator CS4, Picasa, Dual monitor setup with a 22" Acer AL2223W and a 15" Westinghouse, all running on my beast of a computer (that will be soon getting a complete overhaul) consisting of a 3Ghz Pentium D, 2GB DDR2 800Mhz Dual Channel RAM, PNY GeForce 9800GTX+ 512MB video card, 500GB SATA 3.0Gbit/s hard drive, with an additional 500GB external USB hard drive, 1 AOPEN DVD+RW internal burner, and 1 Samsung DVD+RW external burner. I am also a proud user and beta tester of Windows 7.
Feel free to browse my gallery and make some comments, I'll be adding to it as much and as often as I can. I'm always open so some constructive criticism to better myself as a photographer as well. And if you'd like to just chat or learn more about me or my art, feel free to message me here, add me on Facebook, Skype, or AIM.(Not used to often anymore)
Enjoy.
Tom
